CEIT
The Centro de Estudios e Investigaciones Técnicas de Gipuzkoa (CEIT) was established on the 11th April 1982, as a Non-profit Research Organisation, to undertake contract applied research and development work. With its founding, CEIT absorbed the Centro de Investigaciones Técnicas de Gipuzkoa (CIT) jointly set-up on the 15th December 1962 by the Escuela Superior de Ingenieros Industriales of the University of Navarra at its campus in Donostia/San Sebastián and a territorial savings bank: the Caja de Ahorros Provincial de Guipúzcoa.
Through the provision of services to industry, CEIT is pledged to improve competitiveness in the industrial arena by carrying out research projects and the training of Ph.D. Students. At present the Centre consists of three departments -Materials, Applied Mechanics and Electronics and Communications- and two R&D Units; the Unit on Microelectronics, integrated since June 2000 into the distributed Centre CMIC: "Centre for Research on Microsystems", and the environmental Engineering Unit. Both CEIT and its former parent institution -the Escuela Superior de Ingenieros, with which CEIT maintains a close and productive association- are committed to play an important role in the global R&D arena as we enter the 21st Century. In January 2002 CEIT initiated the construction works of a Second Site at the Technological Park of San Sebastián, which is being equipped with state of the art facilities and will be inaugurated in the first half of 2004.
